Simple cooking: Roasted acorn squash

The biggest complaint I hear about cooking is that it is time consuming. But it really doesn’t have to be, and this preparation of acorn squash is a prime example.

It takes 3 ingredients: acorn squash, butter, and brown sugar. And it involves 4 very basic steps:

1. Cut the acorn squash in half and scoop out the seeds.
2. Break 1 tbsp of butter into chunks and spread onto squash halves.
3. Sprinkle 1 tbsp of brown sugar around the two halves.
4. Bake at 400 degrees for about an hour, checking after 50 min for a caramelized, golden flesh.

Sure you wait an hour to dig in with your spoon, but you’re not laboring in the kitchen for that hour. Read a book, watch some TV, do whatever.

Honestly, I haven’t eaten squash prepared a different way that can compete with the delicious sweetness of this recipe. Try it, and I dare you to call cooking complicated or time consuming.
